The Solent Branch of SaRS is presenting an evening webinar covering the results of the recent development of two Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) guidance documents for the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD).

Thursday 1st October 18:30 to 20:00 UK time. To register please click here.

The topics covered by the two good practice guides are R&M Assessment In-Service and R&M requirements in Performance Based Contracts and will be presented in the following presentations:

Assessment of R&M In-Service: Nat King (Atkins) will present on the study he undertook with John Pearce to provide guidance on the good practice when undertaking R&M assessment in service. The presentation will provide a brief overview of the process undertaken, emerging themes, challenges and examples of good practice and will signpost the resulting guidance.

R&M requirements in Performance Based Contracts: Alan Bennett, BMT Defence & Security UK will present on the study that he led to provide guidance on the setting of R&M Performance Indicators (PIs)  in Performance Based Contracts.  The guidance recommends appropriate PIs for different domains and contract types. The presentation will provide a brief overview of the process undertaken to determine the guidance, before presenting the actual guidance.

This work was performed as part of the Aurora Engineering Partnership which is providing the Engineering Delivery Programme  to the Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) organisation. The Aurora Engineering Partnership consists of QinetiQ, Atkins and BMT. This consortium has been specifically established to deliver innovative engineering services through the EDP Agreement. The EDP Agreement is let in accordance with Ministry Of Defence (MOD) Single Source Contract Regulations. Atkins & BMT were tasked to deliver the R&M Guidance that is the subject of this webinar. The presentations are reproduced for SaRS with the permission of the DE&S sponsor, Nick Barnett, Support Engineering Team Leader.
