Living Probabilistic Safety Assessment and Risk Visualisation
A Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA) is a useful tool commonly used in the nuclear industry. A PSA can provide valuable additional insights that cannot be achieved deterministically and can feed into risk informed decision making and optimisation of plant operation without detriment to nuclear safety.
This webinar will be split into two parts:
Part 1 will begin by providing a high-level overview of PSA in the civil nuclear industry. The presentation will explain some key concepts including fault and event trees as well as important inputs (data, Common Cause Failures, operator actions) and outputs (types of results and insights). An overview of the ‘Living PSA’ process will be provided before finishing with the topics of risk informed decision making and optimisation with some anonymised examples.
Part 2 will cover Risk Visualisation and will provide an overview of some of the tools being developed to make risk information more accessible to non-analysts.
