Engineering Council Guidance

The Safety and Reliability Society (SaRS) is a Professional Affiliate of the Engineering Council. The Society works closely with the Engineering Council to influence and work to further the knowledge and understanding of Safety and Reliability in engineering and technology.

As the regulator of the engineering profession in the UK, the Engineering Council sets the standards of competence and commitment, that individuals must demonstrate in order to become registered as professional engineers and technicians, operated under a Royal Charter. The standards are detailed in the UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC) which every engineer must adhere to, whilst on their route to Engineering Council Registration, as well as during their practice as a professional engineer.

The Safety and Reliability Society register Incorporated Engineers (IEng) and Chartered Engineers (CEng) through an agreement with the Society of Environmental Engineers (SEE). You can read more about this partnership here.
